Translation uses old fashioned poetic language, which doesn't make it any smoother to read. The fanciful frame story of Boethius conversing with Lady Philosophy in the prison courtyard was pretty cool, and I appreciated the study break songs between their more serious discussions. The philosophy, itself, seemed to be a cross roads between ancient and Christian, which at times made the arguments convoluted and tedious to follow. Interesting from a cultural and historical perspective, but I just didn't think it was very much fun to read.
